National Occupational Classification (NOC)

Every job in Canada falls under the Canada NOC and each job in Canada is depicted by a 4 digit number. When applying for any job or residency in Canada it is important to classify yourself under a job category according to the NOC.  You must

  • Be working under one of the job titles on the relevant NOC
  • You must be performing most of duties listed under the job category
  • You must have the necessary education and licenses under the job category

In order to qualify to work or immigrate to Canada.
Obtaining advise on how to classify yourself under a certain job category is of utmost importance to the success of your application.
The NOC will also tell you if you work in a skilled, semi – skilled or unskilled job which will determine your options (if any) in applying for residency.
